The Top Three List – Best Artists of This Year!

Art always has been and probably always will be one of my favorite subjects of all time both socially and creatively this topic is one topic that will keep people gabbing on for hours on end. Who is the newest painter of this year? Where are his shows? Is he really as fabulous as they say? People often gossip about the most unruly things, so when they actually start to gossip about things that really matter, I make sure I have a piece of the pie so to speak.

Very recently I was at this snazzy restaurant downtown with a few friends and they started talking about how there was some sort of a whirlwind for artists this year, supposedly a whole bunch of people who are pretty new, just started popping up all over the place. Sure, some of these people are well-known to people in their neck of the woods, but what about mine? I personally never heard of any of the people my friends were talking about and that’s really saying something considering I really dig art and try to keep up on all the new talent!

Later on when I got home I thought of how great an article this would be; name a few people that are still pretty new in the art world and hopefully shed a little (lime) light on them. These “artists” range from photographers to painters and some stuff in between. So let’s take a look at some of these guys, shall we?

Kristi Miller – Photographer

Kristi first started out photographing in her home located just outside Pittsburgh, simple things like blue jays in the spring, summer sunsets and her.. dog? From what I hear she is completely self-taught and yes, she started out very meagerly, photographing whatever she could find in her view finder. I have actually seen some of her work and it is utterly amazing. I mean, okay anyone can take a photo right?

But she actually had someone do a story on her, and she was talking about this humorous story of how when she first bought her camera she was scared to death it would explode on her because of all the buttons! I have seen one of those professional cameras up close and personal, and I have to say they are quite daunting to say the least, I highly doubt that I could even begin to work with something like that! As of right now Kristi is in the midst of visiting the islands of Greece located near Kefalonia, but when she gets back in March of 2009 she is going to get started on a new project she was asked to join in on for the Natures Best photography magazine so be sure to look out for her!

Brian Kliewer – Painter

This gentlemen is also a self-taught artist who currently resides in the state of Maine and began showing his work in his home state in the fall of 1988 at the age of 25! Soon after that Collectors were taken aback by his paintings and had an entire show dedicated to his work in early 1991. Thus far this guy has had pretty good success with selling his paintings, and after you take a look at them, you won’t have to wonder why! Over 30 of his paintings have been purchased by the former MBNA America so far! Right now he is having a challenge of sorts, trying to paint and sell 100 paintings in 100 days for $100. His paintings range from birds, famous artists, landscapes, lighthouses, oil paintings, seascapes, winter scenes and much more.

Really when you see Brian’s art all you can do is stare in awe, they really are superb works of art. I had my eye on a few of these when I visited his site for the very first time, and by the time I got done looking at all he had to offer, I was at about 23 paintings! If you like art, and you like variations of art, this is definitely someone you will want to check out very soon.

Beverly Pfab – Chef

I know a lot of people are going to gripe about a Chef being on this list, but if you have ever seen this lady cook you would add her too! Chef Pfab started cooking when she was just a little girl in the kitchen with her mother on Sunday mornings after church. She has said that her mother is actually the reason behind her ever even wanting to be a Chef in the first place. I have to say I have a lot of outward praise and respect for this Chef in particular, I know how hard it is to work in some alpha male atmosphere, as I am a Chef as well. But she seems to handle it quite well and her passion for food shines through every single dish she makes.

Recently Chef Pfab released a cookbook called “My Mother’s Kitchen” in which she mostly introduces the readers to some of her favorite dishes her mother made her when she was a child, but don’t worry, Chef Pfab has also included some of her own creations as well including the yummiest looking pumpkin pie I have ever seen! This is definitely someone you will want to watch out for in the future because she is going to set the world ablaze with her culinary specialties, knowledge of food, and that pure sense of passion!

This author is a HUGE fan of 100 Paintings in 100 Days for $100 each!
